The Eight Essential Monosaccharides

This page on monosaccharides gives a very good explanation of what each of the eight glyconutrients are and where they may be found.

Many sites indicate that five of the 8 essential monosaccharides (glyconutrients) can be found in human breast milk. This page goes a little bit further and actually identifies which ones are present in human breast milk.

It also identifies the monosaccharides that can be biosynthesized directly from glucose, as the biosynthesis of some monosaccharides requires an intermediate.
